Favorite Books

I was an English professor, and I've enjoyed many of the world's classics in English, French and Spanish--but I also enjoy Tony Hillerman, Robert Parker, Patrick O'Brian, and the works of other good writers.

Favorite Music

The main musical love of my life is baroque music: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Biber, and on and on. But I also like Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and all the salseros who followed them. Cuban percussion rocks!

Favorite Movies

I'm only now getting into movies. Two of my favorites are "Rare Birds" and "The Station Agent." If you know of other quirky, unusual movies, I'd like to hear about them. Thanks!

Biography

There isn't much that I am NOT interested in. Sometimes that's good and sometimes that's not so great. I try to stay up on string theory, pistol shooting, evolutionary biology, new developments in tools at the home center--way too many things for my own good.

I arranged a great book of baroque duets for treble clef instruments--just Google "Charles Colin Publications" and search for my name. If you can play those duets, contact me. We can jam, man!

I've tried my hand at being in a stage play, and I liked it, though it was terrifying. Mostly, though, I like writing, and I like the characters of Matt and Darcy in Distant Cousin. I'm considering what might happen to them next. If you have ideas, I'd be happy to hear them!

Interests

Music is perhaps my favorite activity. I play a decent baroque trumpet and hack away at the harpsichord. I love Latin music, Spanish, and languages in general--I drive a PT Cruiser named Celia Cruzer, which should tell you something.

I love reading and writing--no surprise there--but I can handle some pretty strange things when I really need to. My wife and I built our own house, for example (but we'll never do that again!).

Child rearing used to be one of our favorite things, but now we're sort of concentrating on our grandson.

I especially love a good story. To those who ended up in Distant Cousin, however transmogrified they may be, my congratulations and apologies!
